GRUDGE MATCH: JOHN FURY ACCEPTS CARL FROCH'S CHALLENGE FOR TYSON’S APRIL UNDERCARD FIGHT

John Fury is ready! Discover why he challenged Carl Froch to an April fight on Tyson’s homecoming undercard at Tottenham.

Grudge Match: John Fury accepts Carl Froch's challenge for Tyson’s April undercard fight
John Fury needs to focus on Tyson's training rather than fighting super-middleweight retirees

John Fury says he’s ready to fight Carl Froch on the undercard for Tyson Fury’s comeback in April.

So, here’s how all this kicked off. Tyson Fury, former heavyweight champ, held a press conference at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to announce he’s stepping back into the ring against Arslanbek Makhmudov. Tyson seemed pretty relaxed, even saying the reason he’s returning is that Anthony Joshua lost some friends in a car crash, and that really hit home for him.

But, classic John Fury, he turned up with Tyson and pretty much immediately got into a shouting match with a few people, including Carl Froch. You know, Froch, the guy who’s won the super-middleweight world title four times. Those two have history. Froch has never been shy about criticising John for his role in Tyson’s career.

After that blow-up at the press conference, John jumped online and said he’s up for fighting Froch on his son’s undercard. And it wasn’t just talk. When John spotted Froch at the event, he started hurling insults, calling him a "b****", just going off.

Froch fired back on his YouTube channel, basically saying, “Please, just leave us alone. You’re not going to do anything.” Then he called John out, telling him to “grow a set" and saying, “If you really want to fight, let’s do it right here, right now.”

John didn’t let that slide. Only a few days later, he posted a video, and you could see he was fired up. “Carl ‘The Worm’ Froch, you’ve got yourself a fight,” John said. He called Froch out to fight at Tottenham in eight weeks, right on Tyson’s undercard. John didn’t hold back, either; he taunted Froch, saying he’s nothing at heavyweight and would be a joke in the ring.

He kept it short, telling Froch to get Netflix involved to make it happen. “You can fight the father of the best heavyweight in the world,” John said, “and I’m not going to let a bum like you near beating me.” He finished with, “I don’t need six months’ training. I’m ready now, pal.”

Froch has been trying to get John in the ring for a while, even suggesting they fight on a Misfits boxing card, but nothing ever came from it. Now it’s looking real.

All this drama came right after John apologised to boxing pundit Steve Bunce for lashing out at him during the press conference. John said he lost his cool because Froch wound him up, and all the online trolls got under his skin. “Sometimes we’re all human; we’ve got feelings,” he said. “It can get to you, especially with a man like me.”

John also took a shot at Netflix for bringing Froch to the event, saying, “He hates Tyson, he hates the Fury family, why was he even there?” But at the end of the day, John’s ready to settle things in the ring. In April, in Tottenham, in eight weeks, he wants Froch to show up.

THE MELDONIUM TRAP: WHY THE SUBSTANCE ZHANIBEK ALIMKHANULY TESTED POSITIVE FOR IS BANNED IN BOXING

Zhanibek Alimkhanuly is banned! Discover the WBO's 1-year suspension details and the new Bentley vs Saavedra interim title fight.

WBO officially bans Zhanibek Alimkhanuly for one year

Zhanibek Alimkhanuly’s run as middleweight champ just hit a brick wall. He’s out for a year, benched by the WBO after testing positive for meldonium back in November 2025. That’s a banned substance, so the WBO didn’t waste time; they confirmed the suspension on Friday and are already reworking the championship scene.

WBO president Gustavo Olivieri said the World Championship Committee signed off on the suspension across the board. It’s retroactive to December 2, 2025, which lines up with the day they called off Alimkhanuly’s big unification fight against Erislandy Lara. That fight was supposed to clear up a lot of questions in the middleweight division, but now it’s off the table.

The Voluntary Anti-Doping Association ran the tests and flagged meldonium, which isn’t allowed in boxing or in a bunch of other combat sports, for that matter. So Alimkhanuly can’t fight, not even in exhibitions, until his suspension is over.

To keep the division moving, the WBO set up an interim title fight. Denzel Bentley, their top contender, is squaring off with Endry Saavedra, who’s ranked right behind him. The winner grabs the interim middleweight belt.

Once Alimkhanuly’s suspension ends in December 2026, he’ll have to go straight into a fight with the interim champ. He can’t take any tune-up fights before that, or he’s looking at more trouble with the WBO.

Before all this, Alimkhanuly was one of the most dominant guys in the division. That unification bout with Lara was supposed to settle who really runs things at middleweight. Instead, he’s out, the title’s up for grabs, and other contenders finally have a shot while he sits on the sidelines.

So, the middleweight division just changed overnight. With Alimkhanuly sidelined and the interim title in play, the championship race goes on without him, at least until the end of 2026.

THE WALKOUT: UNCOVERING WHY DEONTAY WILDER STORMED OUT OF THE SIMON JORDAN INTERVIEW

The Wilder-Chisora winner becomes the mandatory challenger for the unified belt

Viddal Riley is getting a massive chance at the European title on the same night Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora square off in London.

Wilder and Chisora are set for a heavyweight clash on April 4 at the O2 Arena. The stakes couldn’t be higher; whoever walks away with the win lines themselves up for a shot at Oleksandr Usyk’s unified world title. For the loser, this could be the end of the road.

MF Pro is putting on the show, and they’ve just signed Riley, who’s now set to fight on the undercard. He’s taking on EBU European champion Mateusz Masternak in what’s easily the biggest test of his career so far. Riley just grabbed the British title, and now he’s eyeing a second belt in a row.

The EBU ordered the fight, and it’s Riley’s big chance to prove he belongs at the top. Here’s how he put it: “It’s a new dawn. It’s a new chapter. MF PRO is the start of something fresh for me, and what better way to kick things off than with a real challenge? I’ve decided to go after a seasoned veteran and former world title contender for his EBU Cruiserweight belt. This fight means everything for my climb toward world honours. I know it’s a tough test, but I’m ready to shine.”

He’s pumped about the main event, too: “Chisora vs Wilder is a huge night, and I can’t wait to show what I can do for my new promoters, who are really backing me.”

Riley’s undefeated in 13 fights, and he hasn’t missed a step. If he wins, he’s set to rocket up the world rankings. He’s already got a big following online, and a statement win here could really launch him into the spotlight.

With all eyes on Wilder vs Chisora, Riley’s fight gets an extra boost. This is supposed to be Chisora’s 50th and final bout, at least that’s what he says, and a win would send him out on a high in front of the home crowd. Wilder, on the other hand, needs to put on a show and prove he’s still got it at 40.

The hype is real; both fighters even got into it with talkSPORT host Simon Jordan. Things got heated, and at one point, Wilder stormed out after a grilling about Tyson Fury. The drama’s building, and April 4 is shaping up to be a wild night for British boxing.
